Senior Sales Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate and experienced Sales Engineer to join our dynamic team to promote and sell a unique range of environmental monitoring products and services including flow meters, water quality instruments, water level sensors, groundwater monitoring equipment, and telemetry systems to clients across the UK and Ireland.

Experience

Demonstratable experience of driving business growth into the water industry and environmental sectors directly, via contractors and consultants.

With a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in technical sales within the water industry or environmental products sector involving complex projects and long sales cycles, you will have experience selling services and hardware, focusing primarily on water quality, flow, and telemetry. Knowledge or experience of monitoring for the Environment Act 2021/Section 82, MCERTS, Water Framework Directive, WWTWs, and WTWs would be ideal.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Identify new business opportunities targeting the Water and environmental sector.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Maintain and build strong, long-term relationships with existing clients.
  • Generate tailored solutions, issuing quotations and proposals in response to tenders and quote requests.
  • Provide expert technical advice on product selection and applications.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and technological advancements.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations to prospective clients.
  • Negotiate and close sales contracts.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure cohesive market strategy and customer support.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer interactions in CRM software and present sales reports and forecasts.
  • Monitor and analyse sales metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Work with the Marketing Department to plan, write copy, and deliver marketing campaigns across a variety of media.
  • Carry out regular competitor analysis to assess strengths and weaknesses.
  • Provide input on pricing, new products, and market activity, and implement effective strategies to improve our competitive advantage.
  • Participate in sales meetings, training sessions, and industry conferences as required.

Educational Background

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or relevant experience.
  • Relevant industry certifications (preferred but not mandatory).

Technical Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of process control, instrumentation, and environmental monitoring services, products, and solutions.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical products.

Organizational Skills

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel within the UK as required.

Working Conditions

Hybrid with regular travel to client sites and office. Flexible working hours may be required to meet sales targets and client needs.
