The Geolux RSS-2-300W is an advanced Doppler radar sensor engineered for accurate, non-contact measurement of surface water velocity. Operating within the K-band frequency range of 24.075 GHz to 24.175 GHz, it uses Doppler technology to deliver precise river surface flow measurements without coming into contact with the water. This contactless design enables straightforward installation above the water surface while significantly reducing maintenance requirements.
The sensor captures highly accurate velocity data at a rate of ten measurements per second and supports a range of communication options, including RS-232, RS-485 Modbus, and analogue 4-20 mA outputs. This ensures easy integration with both Geolux and third-party data loggers. An integrated MEMS sensor provides automatic tilt compensation, while built-in vibration monitoring and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) calculations help verify measurement quality and reliability.
The RSS-2-300W has undergone extensive independent testing, with its accuracy validated by internationally recognised laboratories, including METAS (Switzerland), WATIC (China), KICT (South Korea), Brodarski Institut (Croatia), and the Central Water and Power Research Station (India).
Designed for continuous, non-contact surface flow monitoring, the RSS-2-300W meets the requirements of WMO-No. 168 and is ideally suited for deployment across hydrological monitoring networks worldwide.
