The AquaTrans AT600 liquid flow ultrasonic transmitter provides state of the art flow measurement within a low-cost package which can be installed at the measurement point. This means Zero downtime and minimal disruption to the flow. It has been designed to measure any liquid within a full bore pipe, given the sound speed property is known. The AT600 is all digital with no moving parts; therefore, minimal maintenance is required. Patented Correlation Transit-Time™ technology is used to achieve a long-term, drift free operation.
During this process, two transducers are clamped onto the pipe and work as both ultrasonic signal generators and receivers. These work in tangent meaning the second transducer receives ultrasonic signals transmitted by the first transducer, and vice versa. When operating, each transducer functions as a transmitter generating a certain number of acoustic pulses, and then as a receiver for an identical number of pulses. The time interval between transmission and reception of the signals is measured in both directions and from this a velocity and flow reading can be given.
Clamp-on transducers are convenient, flexible and low cost compared to traditional flow metering technologies. Once installed, the AT600 provides better than 1% reading accuracy in most applications.
