RS Hydro quoted for a short notice project for a well drilling company that required to be started as soon as possible.
The client needed to monitor depth, conductivity, and temperature of water in a well, the client had specified that data needed to be logged and recorded every minute.
Well drilling company
RS Hydro had found out from the client what accuracy they expected the accessibility to site, the maximum changes in levels and recommended what would meet the specification within the lead-times on a solution.
RS Hydro recommended an LTC m100 logger, due to the well being over 50m deep - It is advised to match the potential depth submergence as closely as possible in order to get the most accurate recordings. The Levelogger 5 LTC logs water level, temperature, and conductivity. It combines a datalogger, 8-year battery, Hastelloy pressure sensor, temperature detector, and conductivity sensor within a small waterproof housing, it has a baked-on coating using polymerization technology which protects the body against corrosion, abrasion, and high temperatures. The conductivity sensor is a 4-electrode platinum sensor, with auto ranging capabilities. The minimal-maintenance, sealed Levelogger 5 LTC is simple to clean and calibrate, even in the field.
RS Hydro also recommended a Barologger which uses algorithms based on air pressure only. It measures and logs changes in atmospheric pressure and temperature, which are then used to compensate water level readings recorded by a Levelogger and a field reader which is ideal for communication in the field if the Loggers have been deployed using wireline or cord. In order to keep costs down and due to the fact that the site was local and easily accessible, RS Hydro recommended that the Loggers were deployed on Kevlar cord and simply retrieved from the well to obtain the data recorded after the pump test was complete. Kevlar cord comprised of multiple Kevlar strands braided with black polyester, and has break strength of 150 lbs. Kevlar is very suitable for under water applications in freshwater and marine environments, as the material resists rusting.
